How many hours a week do you spend playing with kids?

As a mother I realized that positive reinforcement is so important! I don't know if I can stress that enough. So, I am always looking for new ideas to practice positive reinforcement and the latest one I came across is a fish bowl or a glass candy jar, like you used to see in the grocery stores with the penny candies (I know this let's you know I'm old). When you catch your child doing something good, helping siblings, doing chores, or my favorite picking up after themselves without being prompted from Mom or Dad, you will add a cotton ball to the jar. You want to make sure whatever you are adding is kind of big so that it doesn't take too long to fill up. Once the jar is full the family will do something together. Examples: Swimming, go to a restaurant, go to the park, whatever will get your children excited.

Note: Make sure the reward is something that the kids will enjoy, even if it's not your favorite thing to do. Remember it's their reward and that your's comes form them doing good :-) !!!!
